Costs and funding of Natura 2000 in the region Macaronésica

The Macaronesian biogeographical region includes the archipelagos of Madeira and Azores (Portugal) and the Canary Islands (Spain). It was here where took the first major step in building the Natura network 2000, when in 2002 the first list of Sites of Community Importance adopted.

In order to support this process, the European Commission contracted Terra a major project with the following objectives:

During the project technical seminars were organized in the three regions and resulted in two publications
